Junior Culinary Program
The Junior Staff Food Truck Program provides Boys & Girls Club of Collier County teens the opportunity to build culinary arts and restaurant management work skills through the unique innovative opportunity to work on a food truck.
The foundation of the Junior Staff Job Readiness program is to train a qualified, competent and committed workforce of empowered teens. Empowered teens who take the skills they learned in the program and use them to create a brighter future as competent employees, small business entrepreneurs, college or technical school students.
Boys & Girls Clubs continue to promote leadership development and career preparation as a major goal of their programs. As reflected in our Formula for Impact, the Club is dedicated to providing more services and programs for teens that not only help them get ready for career success, but also develop a strong sense of civic responsibility and a lifelong commitment to serving others.
Meet the Chefs
Geoff Novins decided at an early age that cooking was fun. Beginning at the local Red Lobster Restaurant at age 15, Geoff was to become Darden Industries’ youngest culinary manager by age 21. His passion soon lead him on through a variety of top notch culinary experiences from catering to fine dining with Tommy Bahama, the Naples National Golf Club, Bin 58 and Carolina Catering. Now, Geoff, father of two, is thrilled to share his excitement for good food with young people. “Why not let them have real food? I can’t wait to see the smiles on their faces when they find out that healthy food can taste good!”
Anastasios Banos has been involved in the culinary world for nearly twenty years. Born in Greece where his grand-father owned an organic farm and winery, Chef Banos developed an appreciation for healthy eating. Before joining the Boys and Girls Club a few years ago, he worked in exclusive restaurants and Clubs in the areas of Naples, Seattle, Chicago and Milwaukee. Passionate about cooking and his job at the Boys and Girls Club he states, “it’s great to be a part of the culinary learning experiences and positive lifestyle changes these kids are making, while doing something I love.” Outside work he enjoys spending time with family, especially his son, his “little cook” and biggest love of his life.
